Hello all! We have our sign up meetings scheduled!

The meeting  format will be different this year to reduce gathering size. The first  week of meeting will be just picking up the paperwork to fill out at  home. If you have questions about filling out the applications, we are  available by phone to help. As you can see in the schedule below, there  will be specific times for pick up and drop off at the second week's  meeting. In Lincoln, we request that people come to the times assigned  to the first letter of their last name, to speed the line along and  avoid crowding, as group sizes are still limited to 10 at a time. At  this time, we will not be giving the orientation talks that we usually  do, so the meetings will simply be picking up your paperwork the first  week, and dropping it off the week, it will probably take about a half  hour each time. We require a photo copy of 2 forms of ID, so please  bring those when you drop off you paperwork! We will have a photocopier  available, but you can save time by making a copy ahead of time!

As recommended by the State of Illinois and the CDC, we will REQUIRE face  coverings for everyone at the meetings, as well as expecting everyone  to maintain a 6 foot distance between people not in the same household.  To minimize the size of the group, please limit your group to the  employees who are applying, and 1 parent. Avoid bringing extra people  and siblings if at all possible.
Do not attend if you are feeling  sick, or experiencing any symptoms such as cough, fever, body aches or  shortness of breath! There will be more meetings!
Everyone stay safe and healthy, and we are looking forward to seeing eveyone, and looking forward to a great season!

Detasseling is essential as part of the food production system!

Sign up times and dates are not set yet. We expect to have sign up  meetings in mid June, possibly later than a normal year.  We are  awaiting guidance on group size limits, which will depend on which  “Reopening Phase” our area is in, as well as open and available  locations, before we can set the meetings up.  Meetings will be  conducted with additional sanitation measures, physical distancing, and  hygiene measures taken. We will follow  or exceed State, Federal and CDC guidelines, likely to include face  coverings, hand sanitizer stations, and single user pens.

As a reminder, we  require workers to be 14 by July 1, 2020 to work this season. Every  applicant will need 2 forms of ID to present with their application.  This is a department of Homeland Security requirement. The most common  forms of ID:
1) To establish your identity: A report card, 8th Grade  Graduation Certificate, school ID, state ID, Drivers license, or any  doctor records, such as immunization records or a physical. AND

 2) To verify your right to work in the United States: Your social  security card, or your birth certificate. Birth certificate needs to be  the official one from the courthouse, not from the hospital.

We  will have a photocopier available; however, you can save time at the  sign up meeting by making a photo copy of these IDs ahead of time!

Field work will begin early July as usual. We anticipate taking  additional sanitation and distancing measures on the buses (assigned  seating, daily disinfecting) and in the fields (set handwashing times,  staggered breaks and lunches, and no shared water coolers).

We  are only about 2 months into this pandemic, and information and  guidelines change often! There will surely be many more changes by  another month from now, when we start signups, and even more changes by 2  months from now, when field work begins! So bear with us as we navigate  this unknown situation! We will have a lot of work and
are looking forward to a busy season!
